R-TECH Materials recently commissioned a state-of-the-art automatic hardness tester, the Struers Duramin-40. This is one of many recent investments made to the metallurgical laboratory and has been supported by Innovation funding from the Welsh Government’s SMART Scheme.
The hardness tester has a wide range of test loads, enabling R-TECH to carry out both macro and micro Vickers hardness testing on a variety of metallic materials. Further, the automatic feature of the equipment, which allows automatic positioning of areas to be tested from pre-defined points and automatic measuring of the indent, significantly increases efficiency, traceability, and consistency, allowing R-TECH to enhance the service provided to their clients.
R-TECH Materials’ Managing Director, Dr. Tony Franks said, “As part of the development of our metallurgical laboratory, we have chosen to invest in Struers, a market-leading and well-recognised brand to improve consistency and efficiency for our clients. I have been delighted to have the automatic hardness tester successfully commissioned and I am sure it will enhance the service we deliver to our clients.”
