R-TECH Materials announces the commencement of a four year Engineering Doctorate project, with our partners North Thin Ply Technology of Switzerland, and the Engineering Materials Department of Swansea University. The project will be using R-Tech’s accredited materials testing and characterisation facilities, alongside the world class research facilities at Swansea University to explore the phenomena of improving mechanical properties through the use of thin ply materials so as to better quantify the potential performance gains that the use of thin ply materials can yield.

The project will build on R-Tech’s experience of collaborative R&D projects, and will embed new testing and modelling capability within the business. The project also builds on the substantial links which R-Tech has built up with Swansea University over the last eight years.
