This year’s Composites in Sport Conference will take place on the 3rd and 4th of October 2018 in Loughborough University and we are delighted to announce that Composites Manager Dr Geraint Havard will be keynote speaker.
Geraint’s presentation will focus on the history of composites in sport and the effect that materials have had in changing the landscape of sporting achievements over the past three decades.
Sport has always been associated with a drive for innovation. Athletes and teams have consistently pushed the boundaries of what is possible, both legally and illegally, in order to gain a competitive advantage. Over the past three decades we have witnessed world records tumbling, but how much of that is due to bigger, faster, fitter athletes and how much of that is down to improvements in sports materials science?
From the first carbon fibre formula one car in 1981, to the introduction of composites into road bikes in 1989, the material has changed the sporting landscape forever. Geraint will be taking you through a journey in the development of composite sports materials and how they have shaped sporting performance.
Alongside the keynote address at Composites in Sport, we are delighted to be preparing 3 presentations that have been accepted at this year’s Advanced Engineering show. With talks in both in the Composites Engineering forum and the newly established Nuclear Engineering forum. These include:
We hope you will be able to join us at the show and if you would like to meet our growing team then you can find us at stand P90.
