In 2016, Sigmatex developed a new recycled carbon fibre material primarily aimed at the automotive industry. R-TECH Materials were tasked with carrying out the testing for this project with a tight deadline. Carrying out tensile, flexural, hardness, density and impact testing, R-TECH were able to deliver a fast turnaround, which enabled Sigmatex to launch their new recycled carbon fibre product in time for Advanced Engineering UK in November 2016. As part of the project, not only did R-TECH have to carry out the testing, but we also had to manufacture the test panels from the carbon fibre prepreg roll, from which the test specimens were machined.
