R-TECH Materials received a request for testing of a basalt fibre to qualify the validity of the customer’s internal testing. As part of this, R-TECH were requested to carry out a number of tests according to the client’s internal procedures. These tests included the following:
- Loss on ignition
- Tensile strength
- Moisture content
- Fibre diameter
- Linear density of the fibre
- weight loss in sodium hydroxide
- weight loss in sodium carbonate
- weight loss in Sulphuric acid
Our experience in both wet chemistry techniques, along with mechanical testing and specimen manufacture, ensured that we were able to carry out a high quality test programme.
